WHO IS NARESH BALYAN
Naresh Balyan
Naresh Balyan is an Indian politician and a member of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). He won his first election to the Delhi Assembly in the 2015 Delhi polls from the Uttam Nagar constituency in West Delhi. On 24 February 2018, Balyan was booked for making inflammatory remarks against government officials.
In March 2018, a team of the income-tax department had carried out searches at Naresh Balyan's property in the national capital and recovered over Rs 2 crore in cash. This was a month after he had been booked for making "inflammatory" remarks against Delhi government officials.
According to the complainant, Balyan had said officials who were throwing spanner in public welfare works, "should be beaten up". He was apparently referring to the alleged assault on Delhi Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash.
In the 2015 Delhi Assembly elections, Balyan had beaten by nearest rival, the Bhatratiya Janata Party’s (BJP’s) Pawan Sharma by 30,419 votes. Balyan had polled 85,881 votes, or 51.99 per cent of all votes cast in the Uttam Nagar seat.
