Meher Pudumjee is an Indian businesswoman and Chairperson of Thermax Limited, an energy and environmental engineering company.
She is Chairperson of Akanksha Foundation and is a trustee of Teach to Lead in Mumbai.
She is also on the Board of Imperial College India Foundation, Shakti Sustainable Solutions, and Pune City Connect. Meher has a keen interest in music, especially western classical, and is a member of a Pune-based choir.
Background
Pudumjee is the daughter of billionaire Anu Aga who led Thermax as its chairperson from 1996 to 2004. She was born in Pune, Maharashtra. Aga had figured among the eight richest Indian women, and was part of 40 Richest Indians by net worth according to Forbes in 2007.
The 54-year-old is married to Pheroz Pudumjee, an MBA and Director of Thermax, who oversees the company’s international initiatives
She is a postgraduate in chemical engineering from the Imperial College of Science and Technology, London, and joined Thermax in 1990. Until 2004, she served as Vice-Chairperson of Thermax and took over as its Chair in 2004.
She represented India at the Asian Business Women’s Conference in Osaka in 2006.
In 2008, the World Economic Forum selected her as a Young Global Leader for her professional accomplishment, commitment to society, and potential to contribute to shaping the future of the world. In 2009, she was selected CEO of the Year by Business Standard.
She is also a member of the Confederation of Indian Industry's (CII) Family Business Forum and the Young Indians (YI).
