Malvika Sachar Sood is the younger sister of actor-philanthropist Sonu Sood. She was born in 1984 in the Moga city of Punjab. Malvika has a masters' degree in Computer Applications and worked as a software engineer previously.
Her husband Gautam Sachar is a businessman and managing director (MD) of their brainchild institute Hollywood English Academy that provides free books and stationery to the students.
As of 2021, she runs her family business in Moga. The siblings' father was in the cloth business and mother was an English lecturer in Moga's DM College of Education. Their eldest sister is settled in the US.
Malvika aims to work to uplift the weaker and poorer section of society.
In 2018, she was conferred with the Society Excellence award for her philanthropic initiatives.
Career
Malvika Sood is known as a philanthropist for her work in the field of education, health and employment. Sachar also runs an IELTS coaching centre in Moga and provides free English coaching to students.
In memory of their late parents, Sonu and Malvika together run the Sood Charity Foundation and she takes care of the charity projects run by the foundation along with her husband Gautam Sachar.
Malvika worked with medical and municipal authorities as a frontline worker in Ludhiana in 2021 amid the coronavirus pandemic.
During the Covid lockdown, she conducted free online classes for underprivileged students.
Under the Sood Charity Foundation, Malvika organised the ‘mera sheher, meri zimmewari’ (My city, my responsibility) campaign in Moga and provided ration kits, books, masks and sanitisers to students.
Politics
Malvika Sood joined the Indian National Congress (INC) party on January 10, 2022. She is the party's candidate from her hometown Moga in the February Punjab Assembly polls. Sachar said she took the political plunge to dedicate herself to serving people.
