Jeff Weiner (Jeffrey Weiner) is the executive chairman of the professional social networking platform -- LinkedIn and the founding Partner of Next play venture capital as well. Weiner, who was the CEO since 2008, became the platform's executive chairman in June 2020.
The American businessman joined LinkedIn as CEO in 2008 and led it through its initial public offering of stock in 2011. Microsoft bought the US-based company for $26 billion in 2016.
Under Weiner's 11-year tenure, LinkedIn grew from 338 to over 16,000 employees in more than 30 offices across the globe.
Jeff Weiner is also part of the board of directors at multiple firms like -- EVERFI, DonorsChoose.org, Intuit, and Boys & Girls Clubs.
Life and education
Jeff Weiner was born on February 21, 1970, in New York in the United States. He did his graduation in 1992 with a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Economics from Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
The LinkedIn executive is married to Lisette Weiner who is a board member for the James Beard Foundation since May 2014. The couple has two children.
Career
Prior to joining Microsoft-owned LinkedIn, Jeff Weiner worked as a senior executive at Warner Brothers and Yahoo!, respectively. He joined Yahoo! in 2001 and served in key leadership positions at the organisation for more than seven years.
At Warner Bros, he joined as the Vice President, where he helped develop its initial business strategies for at least six years.
Moreover, he served as an Executive-in-Residence for venture capital firms Greylock Partners and Accel.
Weiner joined the LinkedIn Corporation as Interim President on December 15, 2008. Next year, he was appointed as the CEO when he established a team called 'BizOps'.
