WHO IS ANUP GUPTA?

Anup Gupta, a politician associated with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has been elected as mayor of Chandigarh in the recently held Chandigarh mayoral elections 2023. Anup has registered his victory by defeating Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) Jasbir Singh. Out of the 29 votes polled, Anup gained 15 votes to win over Jasbir Singh, who was able to bag 14 votes. Gupta will now succeed Sarabjit Kaur. Congress, which has six members, and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), which has a single member, decided to abstain from voting.
