WHAT IS OPERATION GANGA?
Operation Ganga
India in March 2022 launched a multi-pronged evacuation initiative named 'Operation Ganga' to bring home thousands of Indian citizens (estimated 20,000) including students stranded in the war-ridden country of Ukraine invaded by Russia. Special flights are operated by Air India, SpiceJet and Indigo under this mission.
Nearly 15,000 Indian students studying in various universities were stranded in Ukraine.
